My Work
A list of various things I've done...
Westoe Colliery: The Sounds and Songs of our past.
This project gave us the opportunity to interpret the fascinating industrial heritage of the North East by creatively engaging marginalised people usually absent from the discussion on local and cultural history.
I wrote, delivered and worked on music composition for this project with Autism Able. 'Westoe Colliery...' introduced its young learners to mining heritage in the North East and their local colliery, St Hilda's with tours, zine making workshops and music composition.
We used a variety of accessible music making methods, including the use of a waterphone which was a hit with our participants, to say the least.
This project was funded by Historic England

Wheresoever They Are, In Any Measure.
With a title referencing Sunderland born leveller John Lilburne's work on Freedom, Wheresoever They Are... was an inclusive music project in the North East, using experimental music making to help young people with Autism Spectrum Condition compose their music.
This project was funded by Sound and Music.

The Loathesome Worm
The Loathesome Worm introduced young people in Washington to sound design, script writing and foley.
We created a geo-located soundwalk around Penshaw Monument telling a local folklore story.
This project was funded by Sound and Music

Summer Streets Festival: Ben Lunn and Autism Able
For Summer Streets Festival 2021, I worked with the Composer Ben Lunn to write songs with students at Autism Able.

London Transport Museum
As a museum learning freelancer, I re-wrote and taught the London Transport Museum's 'Route Into Work' programme - making it easier to deliver, more inclusive and more interactive, drawing signficantly more from the museum's collection and transport history.

Alan Robson: Have A Happy Christmas Time
A Christmas single written during a period where I participated in a Crisis mentoring scheme, helping beneficiaries of the charity to write songs. We wrote, scored, recorded and released the song together. We also worked with Streetwise Choir.

Gig booking and event producing
I have been organising and producing gigs and events in the North East since I was 16.

Writing and other dalliances
I've been in print as a punk writer (e.g. Razorcake among many other zines) and as a magazine contributor (e.g. The Critic) and have ran and organised events at party conference aiming to bring new people into political action.
My main passions are around regional inequality, disability and the lack of ways for working class people to be involved in art and in politics.
